Anonymously processed information
When a GTGO account is deleted, CarOwnersClub Inc. processes that user's drive records and the detailed records captured every second while driving into anonymously processed information, so that no specific individual can be identified, in accordance with the standards of Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and then deletes the original records. The categories of information contained in this anonymously processed information are published below.
When it is created
It is created during account deletion, before the drive records and detailed records are deleted. It covers saved drives and the section runs within them. Discarded drives, drives still being recorded, and spot visits are not included.
Categories of information contained
There are two kinds of records: drive routes and section runs. A single drive is split into separate records wherever locations were removed, and no information is included that links records to the same user or the same drive.
- Record format version and record type (drive route / section run)
- Year and month, day of the week and hour of the drive (Japan time; the day of the month and minutes are not included)
- Length of the route in the record
- Route positions (latitude and longitude at reduced precision)
- Identifier of the section or road driven (from the GTGO road catalog)
- Elapsed time per second during a section run (seconds from the first point of the record)
- Speed per second (capped at a fixed value)
- Heading per second
- Per-second summary of vibration, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, and changes in direction
Information not included
- Name, display name, email address, user ID and any other information identifying the user
- Drive record and drive IDs and any other codes that could link to the original records
- Positions around the start and end points and around registered bases
- Vehicle information, device model, OS, app version and positioning accuracy
- The date and time of the drive (other than year and month, day of the week and hour)
Disclosure and provision
We use the anonymously processed information to improve our service and to analyse how roads are used. It is not disclosed to other users or to people without an account. If we provide it to a third party, we will publish the categories of information provided and the method of provision on this page, and make clear to the recipient that it is anonymously processed information.
Security
We take measures to manage the security of the anonymously processed information and of the information about how it was processed, and we do not collate it with other information to identify individuals.
